Running in the Bear Empire 32: Buttons

First: Running in the Bear EmpirePrevious: Imperial Bed

🐻

For a moment, Deline thought that Carrone was simply stuck on a never ending circle.  Then she realized that he was smiling.

She smiled back at him.  “Well.” She raised her eyebrows. “I’d say ‘wouldn’t you like to know,” but I think we already established that you have an interest and an opportunity. But if we’re talking about the furniture... you could go upstairs and take a look yourself.  It’s not quite as modern as the one back in the Capitol, but it’s an Imperial Bed.”

Hidden Mall 53: Death

None of them were quick enough for the way the abandoned Liv moved.  She dove at Abby, a glint of metal in her right hand and murder shining out of her eyes, tackling Abby to the ground.  Abby grabbed her arm just in time, holding the metal thing - a box cutter, what a shitty way to die - away from her chest by only an inch.

She got a foot into the mix and pressed it against Liv's stomach, remembering, entirely ridiculously, this time when she and Liv, both much younger, had gotten into a wrestling match over a Barbie doll.  The doll had lost its head and an arm by the time they calmed down - that was the sort of fight that the two of them'd had, back when they were younger and they could solve things by throwing things and breaking dolls.

It was suddenly too much.  Her grip on Liv's arm went limp, and it was only the other two Livs that saved her from a really unpleasant end. She pushed away and curled up on herself, laughing or crying or possibly, probably, both.

Obsolete

When you listened to the old-timers talk, the problems were mostly space.

When you actually listened to them, the problem was space in specific areas, or space that someone wanted, or something like that.

But there was a “crowding issue”.  There were issues with too many people in NYC.  There were issues with lots and lots of people in places on the other side of the globe.  There were problems with obsolete technology.  As far as Rhini could tell, there had been a whole bunch of problems like that, or things people had thought were problems, and some really rich people had thought those problems were going to take over the world.

Haunted House 35: Owned

First: A story featuring a male keeper and a female Kept.
Previous:  Friends

🌳

The towel dropped down and the house shook for a second.  Mélanie jumped; Jasper reached over and put a hand on her arm.

“That’s a laugh.  It’s okay, it just means your joke worked. I mean, I hope it was a joke.  And… you’re right and wrong.”

“Sir?” Mélanie found that that worried her more than the house shaking.

“It’s to your credit, not mine, that you get along with the house.  I’m just really glad that I found you. We’ve had a few, ah. There’s been a few false hopes and a few that were obvious bad fits from the first day, but you — I think you will be happy here with us.”

Happy here with us.  Not well-behaved or even well-suited.  Mélanie found she wanted to smile, so she did, slowly but genuinely.

“I think I probably will be too, sir.  Jasper. And House… Does House have a name?”

Deline looked Carrone up and down, in part because she needed to buy herself a moment to think.

“You’re attractive.”

That hadn’t really been what she’d meant to say.

“You’re strong, clever, and good-looking.”

Prince of Hell?

I've been watching Lucifer on Netflix, and it occurred to me that he fits pretty well into Fae Apoc, powers and all, and ah, here's an AU of his early days "on Earth," that is, free of his previous employment...

The blonde women is Mike VanderLinden.

😈

“Hello,  Luci. I heard you got out.”

Lucifer didn't know the gorgeous blond woman approaching him, but that she was gorgeous, called him Lucy, and you keep gotten out told him that he didn't want to know her either.

“I did.” He was to have to work on sounding more certain when he said that.

Bullet Journals

(A Blog Post)

I am wrapping up my fifth bullet journal — all but the first holding 6 months each; for the first I used the back of an old notebook I’d had lying around (everyone has those, right?) as a test.

I love it.

I mean, considering I've kept something up for over two years

Funerary Rites 37: Throw in (a) Towel

🔑

Senga was sitting between her friends, eating the same pizza they ater every week, soaking up the warmth of people who understood her - at least, who understood everything she had been that didn’t involve this house and -

and

“Chitter?”

“Yeah, Sang?”

“… Did Erramun go to talk to the cook in a towel?”

“Yes, yes he did.”

“Well.  Do you think I should rescue him?”

“Senga, he’s an assassin, he’s older than you, and he’s a tough man.  I’m sure he can take care of-”

“This is the Monmartin family staff, though,” Ezer cut in.

“-you should go rescue him.”

Safe

This did not turn out quite like I intended.  Like, within a mile of it.

Post-apoc fae apoc, Cya (the woman), and an unknown viewpoint male fae.

🚐

He was not, not exactly, stalking her.

For one, he already knew where she lived.

Everyone in this area of the world knew where she lived.

They might not have put one and one together and realized that she was who lived there, but she did not always bother with a disguise, and that particularly red hair was like a flag.

Like a beacon.
